Arrival

Welcome to Madagascar!
Madagascar 3M is thrilled to welcome you at Ivato international airport. After all formalities, you’ll be transferred to your 4-star hotel for some rest before the exciting adventures awaiting you.

Day 1

The Christian Heritage Tour starts with a visit to the 3M Preaching Institute where students are subsidized through your participation in this tour. After lunch, you will board a domestic flight to Toamasina (1-hour flight) on the East coast of Madagascar. Once there, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.
Then, you’ll be taken for a visit through the city on Tuk Tuk and enjoy dinner in a local restaurant before you’re driven back to the hotel for the night.

Day 2

Embark on a journey back through time while visiting the first church planted by the London Missionary Society in Madagascar and listening to their stories.
After that, you will board a motorboat on the Pangalanes Canal and ride alongside the East coast of Madagascar sailing towards the Palmarium. You will be able to visit traditional fishermen villages, swim in the river, and enjoy the lush vegetation and beautiful riverside landscapes. Lunch and dinner will be served on board.
Upon your arrival, you will visit the Palmarium private reserve, where you will see the Aye-Aye, a nocturnal lemur, rare and endemic orchids, palm trees, and carnivorous plants. At night, you will sleep in the boat’s comfortable cabins or at the Palmarium hotel.

Day 3

Your day will start with a breakfast with lemurs at the Palmarium’s restaurant.
You’ll then visit the Palmarium reserve where you will see indri indris, macacos, varecias, and sifaka lemurs. The 50ha of primary Forest hosts a plethora of chameleons, frogs, birds, colorful green lynx spiders, endemic plants, and cactus. You’ll then be able to have a leisurely rest before noon.
After lunch, the boat will set sail to Manambato, the final destination of the cruise where you will be transferred by car to Andasibe, in the heart of the rainforest.
Before you get to the hotel, you’ll end the evening with a night hike along the forest in search of the smallest mouse lemur named the Microcebus lehilahytsara. By God’s providence, we may find one.

Day 4

After a good night’s sleep, you will set out to visit the impressive national park of Andasibe Mantadia, a dense evergreen rainforest where species of amphibians, reptiles, and lemurs have made their home.
In the evening, meet with a local congregation and witness firsthand the hospitality and warmth of the Malagasy people. This joyful gathering will be enhanced by a small cultural show prepared for you.

Day 5

This morning, you’ll interact with lemurs and reptiles from the Vakona Forest Private Reserve and also have some leisurely time when you’ll be able to enjoy the different optional activities of the hotel.
In the afternoon, you’ll head from Andasibe to Antananarivo, a 4-hour drive. Upon your arrival, you’ll be taken to a hilltop to capture an overview of the capital city by night.

Day 6

You’ll visit historic sites in and around the capital city connected to the activities of the first missionaries from the London Missionary Society, bringing the gospel to Madagascar. You’ll learn about the development of Christianity within the city, but also visit palaces where you’ll learn about the highland’s culture, history and religion.
After dinner, a minivan will take you to Fianarantsoa (400 km South) as you sleep comfortably in this vehicle.

Day 7

Welcome to Fianarantsoa, join the praise of fellow Malagasy believers as you attend a local church service. At your request, you could share something from God’s Word.
This city will be a shortstop since you’ll immediately set out for your final destination, Isalo, after lunch. On the way, however, you will visit the Anja park, where the Kattas, belonging to the group of lemurs, can be found.

Day 8

After breakfast, you will visit an open-pit mine of sapphire before a hike through the gorgeous Isalo National Park. This park is famous for its splendid natural swimming pools, a real lush oasis fed by waterfalls of warm water. You will evolve through various ecosystems: from cliffs to a plain of Tapia, an amazing tree with multiple uses, through the Bara and Sakalava sepulchers.
You will travel through a rich and strange culture, through geological ages.
You will be able to see plants with remarkable adaptations, but also
Lemur Catta in the forest of Mangily.
Toward sunset, let yourself be carried away by the unique evening atmosphere at the Window of Isalo and its surroundings.
If time allows and if you are willing to, a short visit to a nearby organic farm and distillery will be offered to you.

Day 9

Today is a day of rest. You’ll have some leisurely time when you’ll be able to enjoy the different optional activities of the hotel such as horse riding, via Ferrata, or mountain biking.

Day 10

You’re leaving Isalo and will head back to Fianarantsoa. Once there, you will stop at the gallery of Pierrot Men, an internationally notorious Malagasy photographer, where you can admire and buy splendid photography of Madagascar and its people.
After lunch, you’ll travel through history one last time in the village of Soatanana where the first native revival occurred after the conversion to Christianity of a former witch doctor in 1894.
Once again, a minivan will take you from Fianarantsoa to the capital city as you sleep comfortably in this vehicle.

Day 11

Your trip ends here. After some rest in your hotel, you’ll be driven to the colorful local markets where you can buy some souvenirs.
Afterward, you’ll be taken back to your hotel for lunch and then transferred to the airport.
